First Leg...

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be actually writing my first blog entry during our voyage to the Last Frontier!

After a tearful goodbye to some amazing, irreplaceable, unforgettable friends early this morning, we traveled a total of 550 miles from Omaha to Rapid City, SD. It took us about 10 hours, but with the time difference traveling into Mountain time, it didn't feel that bad. We started our drive out a little slow, as we took 75 north out of Omaha due to all the flooding. It was a beautiful drive through Blair and other small towns to get to Sioux City, but sad to see so many farms flooded.

We made a stop for lunch around noon, when Jordan wanted to switch driving. That only lasted about an hour and a half until Jordan said he was getting antsy and wanted to drive again. Fine with me! I enjoyed my sudoku and crossword puzzles, and we listened to a couple of wonderfully made CDs from Abby and LOTS of comedy. We made sure to drive through the Badlands again, as we did on our way out here last summer for our vacation. We really enjoyed having Layla along for the ride, and she even got to eat her dinner in front of the Badlands!! Don't worry, pictures were taken!

We arrived in Rapid City around 4:30 and we're about to go out to eat with the Air Force Band members, as they're also arriving here tonight. For those that don't know, Jordan's AF band Night Wing is playing at Mt. Rushmore tomorrow! SOOO excited to see my husband perform. I'm just so proud of him!

Check out some pics from our trip today and thanks for following us!

Last picture in front of our first house!
Gearing up for a few weeks on the road!
It's always good to use a road atlas!

Beautiful farmland in NE!

Yes, Layla is back there, somewhere!

Our favorite part of the drive to Rapid City when you approach the river... SO flooded right now.

A trip through the Badlands to end the day!

Ok, we're not making a habit out of this, but she's so cute!
